The formula used to calculate the weighted average (x) is apparently equal to the addition of the product of the weight (wi) times the data number (xi) which is divided by the addition of the weights.

For Example,

If you need to calculate the weighted average of the class grades with equal weight 60,60,70,80,80.

Since the weight of all grades are equal, we can easily calculate these grades with an average or we can easily calculate how many times every grade appear and use the weighted average.


(1×70+2×80+3×90) / (1+2+3) = 83.33333333
